Accessibility statement
Last reviewed 15 October 2026
Professional Maintenance of Long Island is committed to making promaintli.com usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard alone, screen magnification, or voice control.
The standard we build to
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium. It is the benchmark the U.S. Department of Justice has written into its rule for state and local government websites, and the one most commonly referenced in settlements involving private businesses.
What that means in practice
- Keyboard access. Every link, button, menu and form field can be reached and operated without a mouse, and the item you are on is always visibly outlined.
- Screen readers. Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels, so assistive software can announce structure and move through it. Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from the reading order.
- Contrast. Text, buttons, form borders and focus outlines are checked against the 4.5:1 and 3:1 ratios the guidelines require, including on our photographic and colored sections.
- Resizing and zoom. Layouts reflow down to a phone-sized screen and tolerate text enlargement without content being cut off or trapped behind a sideways scroll.
- Reduced motion. Animation and smooth scrolling switch off for visitors whose device asks for reduced motion.
- Forms. Every field has a visible, permanently associated label; required fields are marked both visually and for assistive software.
How we check
Every page on this site is tested with automated accessibility tooling at both phone and desktop widths, alongside manual keyboard checks and numeric contrast verification of the color palette. Automated tools catch a meaningful share of problems but not all of them, so we keep the door open for the ones they miss — see below.
Known limitations
- Embedded maps. The Google Maps panel on our contact page is supplied by Google and its accessibility is outside our control. The same address and directions are given as plain text next to the map.
- Linked documents. Certificates, insurance documents and manufacturer literature we share may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will get you the information in an accessible form.
Tell us if something does not work
If you hit a barrier on this site — anything you cannot read, reach or operate — please tell us and we will fix it. We treat accessibility reports as faults, not feature requests, and we will acknowledge yours within two business days.
